I have two big furry Mutt dogs with their fur being soft and smooth on their backs and belly, to thick and course on their necks, legs and tails. They shed all over my house. I tried this out and all I can say is that it really works! The piles of fur I got off of my dogs, Zack & Cleo were amazing. They liked being combed with this and I know that they feel much better. I tried it on my cat and I got a lot of fur off of him as well. I wish I would have purchased this earlier. I have clippers that I use on the dogs for the summer and if I would have had this, it would have made clipping them so much easier, without having all of that undercoat on them.
I read one review of a woman who did not like this because it doesn’t hold the fur on it like a brush does, where you have to pull it off in big piles . I think that this is an advantage where the fur comes off so easily and you just keep getting it off of the Furminator with one hand and keep stroking with the other. You WILL have big piles of fur on the floor, so just be sure you have a vacumn cleaner handy or do it outside.
This is one product that I will tell everyone I know that has a pet that sheds–IT WORKS, so just get it!!!
The instructions say that this will decrease shedding as much as 90% and that is something I am looking forward to. I bought the Medium size since I thought it would be less time consuming than the small Furminator. The size is good for medium and big dogs and my cat really seems to like it too ( He weighs 21 pounds) . The weight and handle feel very comfortable in my hand. Just make sure that you do not press down hard on your pet as this will scratch them if you do, just like any grooming tool.
